How To Deal With A Bully

If you know anything about me, you’ll probably know that part of my story includes bullying. Severe bullying. I guess you could say I was bullied even into adulthood when I was disowned.

Bullying is painful. The statistics show at least 25% of students under the age of 18 report bullying.

I certainly did NOT report my bullying.

When I asked for help, I would hear things like, “stand up to them,” “don’t show your weakness,” “just ignore them.”

I assure you, none of these, although shared with me with the best of intentions, worked.

Recently, I watched one of the US Presidential Candidates share his thoughts on how to deal with a bully. His ideas included some of the most thoughtful and useful tools I’ve heard in a long time.

I looked beyond the politics found a powerful message. I think you will too.

I’m on a mission to make a difference for millions.

Bullying is NOT OK. For me, it nearly cost me my life, a few times.

While I don’t pretend to have a solution, nor do I believe we can eradicate it completely, educating young people (and adults) on how to deal with it, and teaching tools that build confidence can make a difference.

Part of the proceeds from every copy of Being UNapologetic and my speaking engagements go towards the cause. Who do you know who’s suffered from bullying, low self-esteem, or low confidence?

Maybe one of these videos will let them know that there are people out there, like me, like Pete Buttigieg, like so many others, who get it. We’ve been there and we are taking a stand to build you up!
